HOW TO AVOID BURNOUT

Hey friends! I recently shared on Instagram how I wasn’t as consistent as I had been in the past. A lot of you all resonated with that and mentioned that you were just as exhausted as I was. With everything that’s going on in the world right now it’s so easy to become burned out. I’ll be honest I was very overwhelmed. I’ve been working full time and blogging for over three years now. When I first started blogging it was a hobby something fun that I would do, but when it became a job and had constant deadlines and content to produce I noticed that it started to feel like a chore. I’ve been able to navigate a little bit better than the past, so it’s becoming more fun again. I wanted to share some tips on how to avoid burnout and become overwhelmed.

  1. Take necessary breaks. Consistency has been a topic of discussion a lot. I would have to agree that consistency is the direct link to success, no matter what you’re trying to accomplish. While consistency is extremely important and key I think we often forget that rest/breaks are necessary as well. I noticed that I started pushing myself to post everyday and create content everyday for the sake of consistency, but I wasn’t resting. I didn’t allow myself to recharge and regroup. When you schedule out your week be sure to include time to rest. For some, rest may be for a few hours and for others rest may be for a few days (this is me…I now create content every other day), but whatever works for you be sure to make it a priority.
  2. Be intentional. I noticed that I started to become overwhelmed whenever I would share content just for the sake of sharing. When I became more intentional about what I was sharing I felt less overwhelmed. I try to focus on the following:
    • How is this helping my audience?
    • What is the takeaway?
    • What do I want my audience to do? (Call to Action)

When you’re intentional you’ll no longer be doing things just for the sake of it.

3. Do things just for yourself. I noticed that creating content became a chore, because I wasn’t doing it for fun. I was doing it because it was a job. I needed to get back to my why, but I also needed to have more fun. I started creating just for me. I would write posts and never share them. I would even create makeup looks and not post or even do tutorials. They were just for myself. In doing this, I found that fun I was missing. I was also able to practice on my craft without feeling any pressure. Whatever it is that you’re doing remember to take some time to do it for yourself and feed your creativity.

Burnout can be tough to come back from and it won’t happen overnight, but if you’re kind to yourself and allow yourself space to recover and regroup everything will work out as it should. Hope you all have a great one and remember to enjoy yourself and your journey.
