ALLOW ME TO REINTRODUCE MYSELF
It’s 2019, y’all! 2018 went by fast, but I’m not complaining. With a new year here, I figured that I would reintroduce myself. I’ve gotten a lot of new subscribers and followers on both my blog and Instagram, so I wanted to give you an opportunity to get to know the face behind ‘Grace and Glitz.’ Today I’ll be sharing some facts about myself, so grab a snack and join in.
Fact: I love me some Jesus. I’m sure you knew that already (hence the name Grace and Glitz), but I just wanted to say it louder for the people in the back haha. I developed a real relationship with Christ when I was in college. I saw so many young adults who were on fire for the Lord that it made me want to get my life together and get to know him more. Honestly, it’s the best decision I’ve ever made. Shout out to you Jesus!
Fact: I was born in Michigan, but I like to think that Texas raised me. I say this, because I spent the most pivotal years of my life living there. I moved to Texas for college all by myself at the age of 17, and lived in between San Antonio and Houston until the age of 27 (10 years flew by so fast). Texas basically shaped me into the woman that I am. I recently moved back to Michigan, but Texas will always be special to me.
Fact: I have a really close relationship with my Mom and Sister. They are my roll dawgs, my homies, and best friends. It’s part of the reason why I moved back home. I missed my family so much and I hated the fact that I missed out on so many great memories while living so far away.
Fact: I’m such a girl’s girl. Always have been and always will be. I love to be around all of my girlfriends, and I always have the best time with them. Not to throw any shade at my guy friends, but my girls are bomb.
Fact: One of the biggest (and dramatic) decisions I made last year was quitting my job of five years. Honestly, it was the best career decision I’ve made thus far and also the most liberating. I learned a lot at my old job, but the biggest lessons that I took away was to know my worth as an employee, and that loyalty to myself is the most important.
Fact: Music is my medicine. It’s gotten me through some of the best and worst of times. I’ve mentioned this in some of my previous posts, but most of my blog posts are inspired by songs that I love.
Fact: One of my plans this year is to be more active in my community. I want to give back and participate in community service, but I also want to host events for young women in my hometown. I’m from a small town, and we don’t have a ton of spaces and opportunities for young woman to come together and share their journey. I hope to be able to create that space and allow women to connect with one another.
Fact: I’m as single as a dollar bill (cheesy…I know). Honestly, 2018 was probably the first year that I actually paid attention to the fact that I was single. I mean it crossed my mind, but it never really lingered. Over the past few years I’ve enjoyed my solitude and all of the amazing adventures that I’ve been on by myself (like putting all of my energy into my blog, and also traveling across Europe all alone…twice). Being in a relationship was the last thing on my mind. I’m more aware of my singleness now, and I’m more open to meeting someone (Mr. Right where you at?).
Last Fact: I’m about as extra as they come. I’ve learned to embrace my extraness (is that even a word?). I’m well aware that I don’t have to “do the most” all of the time, but I’m also aware that being a bit extra is what makes my personality stand out, and makes me more fun. I’m challenging myself to be more present and engage more on social media this year, so maybe you’ll get to witness my sassy, over the top and extra personality.
Welp that’s all about me for now (I can’t think of anything else). I will say that I’m very optimistic about 2019. I’m looking forward to learning more about myself and creating new memories. I hope that you all have a blessed year. Now let’s knock out these goals.
