HOW I MANAGE BEING A BLOGGER WITH A FULL TIME CAREER

Hey loves, hope you’re having a great day.  One of the most popular questions that I get as a blogger, is how do I manage blogging and work a full time job?  I don’t really talk about my career too often, but what I will say is that my day job is pretty time consuming.  For me, blogging is a way for me to relax and enjoy some “Me Time.” It’s sort of a way for me to unwind.
It can be hard sometimes trying to manage my blog with my busy work schedule, but I’ll share a few tips on how I’ve been managing them both so far:
  1. As I mentioned before, I consider blogging “Me time.” With that being said, I try to make sure that I have “me time” almost everyday. Whenever I get home from work, I make sure to set aside at least one hour a day to work on my blog.  It may not be a whole lot of time, but I try to be super productive during that hour.  I usually spend it thinking of new blog ideas, networking at events, working on my Instagram page, or editing pics.  Blogging is a passion of mine, so I don’t find it to be a chore or a difficult task to set aside at least an hour of my day for it.
  2. I try to consistently blog on a certain day of the week, and stick to that schedule.  I’m a Youtuber as well as a Blogger, so I try to consistently share a new blog post every Wednesday (yes, I know today is Tuesday…I’m on vacation, so you’re getting this post a little early), and a new Youtube video on Sunday.  I know it can be hard to be consistent, but when I know that I have a schedule and somewhat of a “due date” for my posts, it helps me to stay on task.
  3. I preplan my blog posts.  My week can be pretty hectic, so I try to make time to preplan my blog posts.  I travel quite a bit, so it’s always helpful to have a few blog posts preplanned, so I don’t have to worry about scrambling at the last minute to get content out.
  4. I make use of my weekends. While blogging isn’t my entire life, I try to make use of the free time that I have during the weekends.  I’m typically free during the day on most Saturdays, so I try to create content or take photos around that time.  If I make time during my weekends to create most of my content, it allows me to have a little more free time during the week to focus on other things.
  5. I try to set realistic goals for myself.  For me, consistently posting once a week on both of my platforms works best for me.  I try not to put too much pressure on myself.  I want to produce the best content that I can, so for me I’d rather post an amazing post once a week instead of a bunch of filler posts with no meaning.  If it’s realistic and works with your schedule to post multiple times a week, go for it. Do whatever works best for you.
Managing my blogger life along with my full time career is still a work in progress, but I’m learning as I go.  I try to be as flexible as possible.  Remember that having a personal life is just as important as a career, so try to set aside time each day to unwind and focus on the things that you are passionate about.  I hope some of these tips were helpful for you. I also hope that you have a great week.
