THE WINDY CITY

Hey, loves.  Last weekend I went on a much needed vacation to spend time with my family.  While with family, we took a day trip to Chicago.  Growing up, Chicago was one of my favorite cities to visit.  I hadn’t been there in years, so I was really excited to see different landmarks and eat at my favorite restaurants.
We drove to Chicago (about four hours away), and spent the entire day there.  Our first order of business was to see the Cloud Gate “the bean.”  The Cloud Gate is one of the most popular tourists attractions in Millennium Park, so we wanted to check it out before the big rush.  We made it there around 10am, and really enjoyed taking lots of fun pictures.

After the bean, we were super hungry, so we decided to eat at our favorite pizza place (the real reason why I went to Chicago), Giordano’s.  If you’re thinking about visiting Chicago, I’d suggest trying out Giordano’s.  It’s seriously the best pizza in the world.  They are known for their deep dish pizza, and they didn’t disappoint.

After stuffing our faces, we decided to walk down Magnificent Mile “Michigan Avenue” to walk off all of that yummy pizza.  After walking for a bit, and doing a little shopping our last site was the John Hancock Tower.  I had gone to the John Hancock Tower previously, but my sister heard about a new attraction in the tower ‘The Tilt” and we were excited to check it out. We went all the way up to the 90th floor of the John Hancock tower, and saw the best view of the city.  We went on the Tilt, which was a little underwhelming. Basically, you stand there while the room tilts over the city.  It sounded really nice, but it wasn’t all that great. It might be a cool thing to check out with kids, but it’s not that exciting for an adult adventure.
Our last stop (the best stop) was to Garrett’s Popcorn.  I rave about this place to everyone.  Whenever my friends talk about visiting Chicago, I always suggest that they check out Garrett’s.  There’s literally a location on every corner.  Garrett’s popcorn is the best popcorn in all the land.  Think I’m kidding (the line is always out the door).  I just love the smell of the caramel corn as I walk into the building.  It automatically makes me happy (yep I said it). Garrett’s is definitely another place that will not disappoint.
I had a great time in Chicago.  We were all able to check out new places, and spend time in a city that we love.  If you’re ever thinking about visiting Chicago, you should.  There are so many great attractions and activities for tourists.
